Monte A. Jackel is nationally known for his expertise in partnership tax law, where he has advised taxpayers ranging from Fortune 500 companies to closely held businesses and their owners. He has lectured and written extensively on partnership tax law matters and other federal tax law topics. See, e.g., List of Tax Notes Articles.

Monte has practiced federal tax law for parts of six decades now, both in the private sector and with the Federal government. Monte served as an Attorney-Advisor in the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy, Washington, D.C., where he worked on many significant partnership guidance projects, as well as projects in other areas of federal tax law, particularly relating to financial products, corporate tax, and international tax. In the national office of the IRS’ Office of Chief Counsel, Washington, D.C., Monte served in three separate roles: as the Associate Chief Counsel (Domestic-Technical), and then later as a Special Counsel in the Passthroughs & Special Industries division of the Chief Counsel’s office, and thereafter as Special Counsel to the Chief Counsel.

Monte is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, and the District of Columbia, Washington, D.C. He is also a fellow at the American College of Tax Counsel, an elected member of the American Law Institute (ALI), and nominated as a fellow, American Bar Foundation.
